Hurricane Relief Project

The Hurricane Relief Project began January 2006 as a grant funded by the National Fair Housing Alliance. Currently supported by the National Fair Housing Alliance staff, the Hurricane Relief Project works to assist homeowners in hurricane affected areas by resolving mortgage delinquency and obtaining settlements on homeowners insurance claims. As the rebuilding process begins, the project also seeks to ensure fair access to insurance and mortgage lending; to reduce mortgage loan default and foreclosure; to prevent construction fraud; and to facilitate the re-building of inclusive communities and ensure equal housing opportunity for all.

If you are having hurricane related mortgage or insurance difficulties, please contact Beth Meyer, Hurricane Relief Project Specialist or GCFHC at 228-396-4008.

GCFHC bids a bittersweet farewell to Board member, Angie Sharp

This month, Board Member Angie Sharp announced her resignation. Ms. Sharp will be relocating to Texas. Ms. Sharp was an active board member and integral part of the GCFHC's outreach to individuals with disabilities. In her capacity as secretary, she provided stability to the Board of Directors.

"Her dedication and commitment to making sure that housing was available to all will sorely be missed." says Laurie Spring, Assistant Executive Director.

Currently, GCFHC is accepting applications for new Board members. If you are interested, please feel free to contact us.
