Since 2003, the Gulf Coast Fair Housing Center (GCFHC) has been hard at work, pushing for the elimination of housing discrimination on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. During that time, GCFHC has tackled race and familial status discrimination in the rental housing market with its 2004 Rental Housing Study; and the lack of accessible housing on the Gulf Coast with its 2004 Housing Accessibility Study. Since Hurricane Katrina, GCFHC staff have been aggressively assisting homeowners in dealing with their hurricane related mortgage and insurance issues through the hurricane relief project and assisting Gulf Coast residents in pursuing their rights to equal housing opportunity.
